Fellow Officials,
The season is rapidly approaching and it is time to get yourself in shape. Walk, Jog, or Run, and Lift Weights. Do it with your crew mates. If you're not on a crew call a friend and work out with him. Do anything that will get you feeling good about yourself and get the respect of the coaches and the players. Buy something new for officiating. Get rid of the yellow or gray shirt and pants. Buy a new hat. Pretend this is your first year of officiating and get excited! Try to make every meeting this year. We can all learn something.
We want to make this the best year possible.
Have a great rest of the summer and see you at the field clinic on July 30TH.

Called John Zorzi and he agrees with me. The exception to the numbering only applies if K does not have five players 50-79. If they do then whether it is a scrimmage kick formation or not an eligible player can start covered and shift to an eligible position. He would be eligible.

Urgent NJSIAA Rule Change

The rule is - when a team is ahead by 35 points in the second half, the clock will continue to run and will only stop when;

There is a score
There is an time out
There is an injury
There is a penalty

If at anytime the differential in the score becomes less than 35 points, then you run a regular clock

This Mercy Rule applies to Varsity, JV, Soph, Frosh games. The NJSIAA asks that we keep a record of these games and report them to the Chapter Secretary who will forward a report to the State at the end of the season.

Please talk about this rule with the coaches when you officiate your scrimmages in August/September.

You can order Shore Group clothing (T-shirts, Sweatshirts, Jackets, etc) through Howie Dombrowski Jr. hdombroskijr@optonline.net

Thunder/Lightning Procedure

Play must be suspended any time an official sees lightning or can hear thunder.  There is not acceptable time delay that allows conditions to be safe.  You see lightning or hear thunder, suspend the game.  Once the game is suspended, the game can not resume for 30 minutes after the last bolt of lightning or peal of thunder.  Each new bolt of lightning/thunder results in a new 30 minute countdown.

If you can hear thunder, lightning is close enough to be dangerous.  Do not try to "fit it in".
